Guy Rowland has been writing spec scripts since the mid 1990s.  In 2001 he wrote a one-woman TV microdrama, drama masquerading as a daily self-shot reality TV show.  Together with a small team, he shot promo material with the lead (and only) actor, Posy Miller – however, while the team were canvassing interest in TV companies later that year, Posy very suddenly fell ill and within a week died of acute leukaemia.  The following year, and with the support of her family and friends, Guy wrote Sam Jackson’s Secret Video Diary, a faux documentary about the search for a missing person, which used the existing material as a centrepiece.  The film was eventually made with Guy also directing, and in 2005 was nominated for a British Independent Film Award.

Since then, Guy has continued to develop scripts (and helped with additional material on Living Spirit’s own Gone Fishing screenplay and last year worked on a children’s book adaptation for BBC Scotland), alongside his other lives a sound designer and composer.

You can now watch Sam Jackson’s Secret Video Diary for free online at  where there is also an accompanying feature-length documentary.  Beyond Fiction looks at the unique challenges facing the Sam Jackson writing and production team in what became a true labour of love.
